About
Sahaya Hastha

Who we are!

Sahaya Hastha is a nonprofit organisation since 2013, committed to actively creating awareness about breast cancer, cervical cancer, oral cancer and other menstrual problems affecting women in the rural areas of Bangalore, Karnataka. Rural women are bounded by shackles of stigmas, social-economic factors and lack of awareness stopping them from talking about and getting treated for their illness. Team Sahaya Hastha does its best to support these women in villages by reaching every door. They organise Door to door campaigns and educate them on the importance of early screening, identify causes, symptoms, precautions and when to take medical advice. Other important agendas for their campaigns include taking precautions against the HPV virus, basic hygiene, the importance of nutrition, and the harmful effects of chewing tobacco.

Principles of Sahaya Hastha

Team Sahayasastha works on the principle of 4 C’s – Connect, Cultivate, Catch and Cure.

Connecting with the people. Seek help from the local workers to get closer to the villagers and understand their issues better. It is human nature to not interact with strangers.

Village women are unaware of their health issues. They even compromise on necessities and hygiene, leading to severe health complications. Enlightening them about nutrition, health and hygiene is essential for the entire family.

Educating on self-examination for breast cancer, identify symptoms of cervical cancer, organising screening camps with the help of medical teams for early diagnosis helps in timely treatment and saving lives.

Guiding and arranging in all possible ways to help treat the cancer patient

What is our bigger goal?

Mission

Cancer is one of the main reasons for the untimely death of women. Create awareness by educating the women about symptoms, precautions and treatments for timely actions to fight health issues. Find all possible medical help from prescreening to treatment.

Team Sahaya Hastha is on a mission to create a trusted space for the women where they can talk openly about their health issues. Get guidance on the health and hygiene required for a healthy lifestyle. About symptoms, cures and preventions from menstrual issues, cancer and other prominent illnesses. They have the freedom to talk about their gynaecological issues to gather awareness and find solutions to the problems.

Although prevention is better than cure, in case of being caught by illness, they will be able to get timely treatment. Get the right direction for connecting with the concerned organisations for timely help. A woman is the centre of the family, her health matters for the progress and prosperity of the family.

Vision

A happier and healthier society free of monsters like breast cancer and cervical cancers. Women have the importance and freedom to talk about their health issues with easy access to all the required medical aids.

Still, a vast population of India lives in the villages. India can develop when every rural Indian woman is self-sufficient. We can not help everyone, but we can help some. We dream of a society where all the people come forward and help these women to grow and lead happy life.

A chain of educated females can further help other women by staying connected to Sahaya Hastha. Awareness is the first step to start working, followed by other steps in the right direction. We stand with these women in their fight against breast cancer and cervical cancer.
