Covid-19 first wave

We have worked every day since Janata curfew until today towards appeasing hunger and building immunity among daily wage workers, migrants and weaker society in Bengaluru. The most vulnerable lot of them, the pregnant and breastfeeding mother’s especially from the migrant community was the most compromised in terms of health and immunity so keeping them in mind UNICEF kits which includes nutrition kit, hygiene kit, energy bars fortified milk powder were distributed to the pregnant and breastfeeding mother’s, mother’s with less than 6 to 7 months child and also awareness on how to keep themselves protected during Covid times was advocated.

Every week we have lifted three tones of vegetables from the farmers directly and distributed freely among the needy communities. India has a large Farming population who were also in distress due to lockdown due to no buyer ends and so to enable farmers sustain themselves we have bought vegetables directly from them through FPOs and distributed to impoverished people thus helping both the communities. Being an agricultural graduate helping farmers was a priority to me. Vegetables were distributed twice a week among communities.3000 personal hygiene kits have been distributed among the migrant communities. We have also helped the women maintain personal hygiene by distributing hygiene kits which include toothbrushes, paste, hair oil, detergent soaps toilet soap and sanitary pads.
Lockdown has been difficult for availing medical treatment so we have facilitated patients, by taking them to hospital and also sourcing and delivering medicines or any other essentials.

Daily 2750 meals were distributed among migrant communities all over Bangalore in the remote areas, and outskirts, Chandapura Dasarahalli, Byappanahalli, etc. We used to collect food by 12.30 pm then go to Chandapura, then electronic city, Dasarahalli, neelasandra colony, Magadi Road, over 2750 meals in the first approach to appease immediate hunger followed by distribution of more than 2000 dry Ration kits to migrants which included groceries to sustain for over a month to manage hunger sustainably.
